Expo Volunteers

The Hills Garden & Environmental Expo is run and organised totally by volunteers.  Each year over 100 volunteers work together to help make the Hills Garden & Environmental Expo a success.  Parents, staff, current students, past parents, friends, partners of staff members and old scholars of The Hills Montessori School make up the vast body of volunteers.


The Expo volunteers assist in many ways:

  • promoting the event through distribution of flyers and word of mouth
  • propagating and potting plants
  • baking cakes & biscuits
  • donating fresh produce
  • food preparation prior to the event
  • organising activities for children at the event
  • administration activities associated with the event
  • organising entertainment, speakers & demonstrators
  • liaising with exhibitors and special guests
  • writing media releases and organising advertising
  • applying for grants
  • designing posters and advertisements
  • assisting with the electrical and technical aspects
  • co-ordinating duties and rosters for volunteers
  • liaising with the council, police, st johns ambulance
  • setting up and packing up the event
  • working on stalls on the day
